Hebrews 2:5-18 No Other

This passage talks about how Jesus perfected salvation. Jesus died on our behalf for our sins so that we would not have to suffer. He was crucified on the cross and humiliated so that we would not have to do the same. He is our scapegoat and Savior and He is an absolutely perfect one. God became man and that is Jesus. Jesus is as holy, righteous, loving, merciful, and gracious as God is. Jesus is God Himself. Being the perfect being He is, Jesus paid the price that we, sinners, could not pay. In verse 9, it says,“But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.” Jesus, the loving, gracious, holy God in human form, was made lower than the angels, who worshipped God and were not even close to being as perfect as God is. There, lowered from His holy status to be on the cross, He suffered and died the most tragic death for our sins. There, on the same cross, Jesus was glorified and did what was honorable in God’s eyes because He did it out of His love for us. It was pleasing to God because Jesus, His Son, was the right sacrifice. There is no one else who could do the same… no angel or human being as fitting as Jesus is. His blood is sufficient to cover all of our sins in the past, present, and future. All is done so that our impurities would not be in the way of us worshipping God when we reunite with Him in Heaven. Instead, we get to experience the grace and love of God that we absolutely do not deserve.

“There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.”

Psalm 86:8-9
