Sharing from the WORD
"Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery." Reading through this verse, I found myself in awe at how much Jesus love for me. Hebrews chapter one captures the Jesus' absolute supremacy: "the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature," who sits at the right hand of God. Although Jesus is of such holiness and divinity, he took on flesh to become lower than the angels, to suffer temptation, and to taste death. For our lives, Jesus allowed himself to be humbled and made like us in every respect, sharing in all our weaknesses (imagine our all-powerful Jesus was once a crying and frail infant just like how we were). This just shows the extent to which God desires to connect with us; that he is willing to be beset weaknesses to sympathize with us.
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. "
God is not an aloof and impersonal God who holds impossible standards for us. He understands what we are suffering for He has experience life in the world too. In doing so, He is able to intercede for us by becoming the perfect and blameless sacrifice (despite having been tempted as we were) to destroy the one one who has power of death and to free us from lifelong slavery. Thus, do not think that we have a God who does not know the temptations and the evils of the world. Rather draw near to His throne for "can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself [was] beset with weakness." Our God is a loving and understanding God, and through Jesus we have a source of eternal salvation if we believe and obey him.
