Warriors & Prodigals

Last week, we got together in Alameda at Will and Alex's for a good ol' fashioned barbeque over the Warriors game. Grilled chicken & eggplants, potato salad, pesto aioli... what could be better? At halftime, we mosied our way to Leydecker Park, where we played a mash-up of ultimate frisbee/handball, hoods vs. non-hoods. Staff and student alike got pretty into it.. the competition was steep. Unfortunately, we returned to the house to a defeated-looking Warriors team.. get em next time, Curry.

During Bible study, we headed to Holly house to begin reading Return of the Prodigal Son, reflections written by Henri Nouwen regarding the Rembrandt painting of the same name based on Luke 15. We found that we easily find ourselves identifying with either the rebellious younger son or the dutiful (&easily resentful) elder son. However, Nouwen shares his realization that we are all called to be the father, able to love without hindrance and give without receiving.

That's all for now! Excited to see many of you back soon :)
