We're Eating Bread and Playing Basketball

On Friday the 10th, the Homegroup 1 and 2 guys combined for an inductive Bible Study at Klesis House, taking another look at the passage of John 6, of the Bread of Life. Kevin H of HG2 led us through a careful examination of the text to understand Jesus's seemingly cryptic words. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh - John 6:51

Just as he did with the Samaritan Woman in John 4, Jesus again says that a type of food is "living," which again leads to confusion. Thankfully, due to collaboration between the brothers of the two homegroups, we grew in our understanding of how Jesus was once again criticizing the religiously upright Jews of the time. Since this declaration of "bread of life" comes immediately after the miraculous feeding of the 5000, the Jews certainly had food on their minds, but Jesus corrected that view of focusing on things of the world. Hopefully through this study of this text and others in John, we are able to avoid this mindset and look to things above.

Afterwards, all Klesis brothers combined with the A2F bros for an amazing night of sports at JamTown in Oakland, combining basketball, volleyball, and soccer onto the courts. We had the chance to meet new people from other groups as well as catch up with old friends in a friendly game of whatever you wanted to play!

At the end, we participated in a game of Knockout with literally every guy there that night (at least 150). Hope to see you there next time, when we have another awesome gym night!
